Anna Blincoe

The exploration of the flower universe is the continuing theme that runs throughout Anna Blincoe’s work. In her work she is constantly looking for ways to express and reveal the inner and outer world of nature of flowers and plants.

Anna Blincoe was born in 1972 in Kerteminde on the island of Fyn in Denmark. Most of her childhood was spent in Malaysia, living on plantations with her Danish mother and British father. This period in her life, where she lived in a tropical climate, among extraordinary flora and fauna stands out as one of the most important sources of inspiration for her paintings and drawings.

In 1978 Anna Blincoe moved from Malaysia to England, where she lived and studied, and received her BA Hons Degree in Fine Arts at Falmouth University, Cornwall. In 1994 Anna moved back to Denmark, where she started to exhibit her paintings. She married and had two children, now teenagers. Anna is divorced and lives and paints north of Copenhagen, near the sea.

Anna Blincoe uses a variety of techniques such as graphite, ink, oil paint and charcoal. Her work was first exhibited in 1994 in one of the major juried exhibitions, Den Frie (Efterårsudstilling), Centre of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen. Since then her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions both in Denmark and England.

In 2015 her watercolor painting, White Amaryllis, was entered in to the RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London. Her work was also featured at the London Art Fair, the same year, by Jonathan Cooper of Park Walk Gallery in Chelsea, London.

In 2016 two of Anna Blincoe’s large scale pencil drawings entered the prestigious permanent exhibition at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew Gardens, London, at the Gallery of Botanical Art led by Dr. Shirley Sherwood.

In 2017 Anna Blincoe was, by the Borough of Gentofte in Copenhagen, awarded the honory title, Artist of the Year 2017.
